A Creator Link Check Before Your AI Launch on X

Use a worked prelaunch checklist to verify each creator link, find where a redirect drops campaign tags, and decide which posts are ready to go live.

Check the link and the record it should leave

Before creators post about your AI product on X, open the exact link each creator will use. Confirm it takes a new visitor to the right offer, keeps the agreed campaign tags through any redirect before the first measured page, and leaves a recognizable visit in your analytics where consent and reporting allow. Record those checks separately. A link can open the correct page and still lose the information that tells you which post sent the visit.

Imagine an AI company launching a beta that drafts help center articles from support tickets. Its launch post and two creator demos all point to the same beta page. The campaign lead wants to know which post sent each tagged visit. One creator has an old short path that still redirects to the right page. The team needs to know whether that shortcut preserves the creator’s campaign tags before approving the post.

Write down what each post should send

Give each post a row with its owner, exact URL, expected landing page and expected campaign values. In the hypothetical beta campaign, all three links use x as the source and support_docs_beta as the campaign. Use a medium that matches your reporting setup and give each post a different content value, such as founder_announcement, creator_a_walkthrough or creator_b_review. Google’s Analytics guide explains how manual campaign tags are collected and how the content parameter can distinguish links within a campaign.

Use the labels already agreed with your analytics owner. Changing case, spelling or separators partway through a launch can make results harder to group. Before giving a creator their link, put it next to the approved call to action. A demo that says “apply for the beta” should open a page where someone can apply under the stated terms. That is a separate check from whether the URL carries tags.

For the paid creator walkthrough in this example, the path and tags would read /beta?utm_source=x&utm_medium=paid_social&utm_campaign=support_docs_beta&utm_content=creator_a_walkthrough. Compare that row with the URL the creator plans to paste. A correctly tagged founder link cannot identify the creator’s visits if it is copied into both drafts.

One creator link from draft to approval

  1. Campaign lead assigns the link

Creator A gets the beta URL with creator_a_walkthrough as its content value.

  2. Reviewer opens the link

The old shortcut loads the beta page but drops the campaign tags before the page loads.

  3. Team approves a replacement

Use the direct tagged beta URL if the product team confirms it is stable. Check the new URL from the draft again.

  4. Campaign lead releases the post

Save the approved URL with the creator’s draft and record whether the analytics owner could verify a tagged visit.

Find the first place the information disappears

Start with the link copied from the draft. Open it in a fresh browser session where you are signed out of the product, then note the first page that loads. If the tags are missing after a redirect, compare the original URL and the landing URL with your website owner. X says it wraps shared links in its t.co service. When you verify the published post, check the destination reached through that wrapper as well. The wrapper itself does not tell you where any tags were lost.

If the landing URL contains the expected tags but your reporting does not, keep the link and analytics findings separate. Ask the analytics owner whether the landing page recorded a visit under the agreed consent settings. If the next step takes a visitor to a different domain, ask how the two domains are measured. Google documents cross domain measurement for joining a journey across domains and explains that redirects can remove the linker parameter. That configuration is separate from the campaign values that describe how a visitor arrived.

Keep preflight activity out of your launch totals. Agree with the analytics owner how to identify or isolate it, and record any limitations if the check cannot be excluded. You can approve a working destination and mark attribution as unverified when data is unavailable. Record that decision before the post goes live so the follow-up report does not treat missing measurements as zero interest.

Keep the approved link with the approved post

If you change a destination or access message after approval, reopen the exact revised link and recheck the rows for the affected creators. Record the published post URL beside its approved destination so any later discrepancy is traceable. In the follow-up, report post views or impressions, measured visits, and completed signups or enquiries where your team can confirm them.

Your team supplies the product, working access, destination URLs, goals and final approvals. We build the launch strategy, prepare the X posts and demos, give creators the approved links and wording, and coordinate the timing. We flag link or measurement issues for your website and analytics owners and use the available evidence in the agreed campaign follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

Can every creator link to the same beta page?

Yes. Give each post its own agreed identifier so your team can separate tagged visits even when the destination is shared.

What if the URL opens the right page but the tags disappear?

Check whether they disappeared before the first page was measured. If the redirect drops them, ask your website owner to fix it or approve a direct tagged URL, then check the revised link.

Do intact campaign tags prove a signup came from a creator?

Intact tags show the link carried campaign information. Attribution for a completed signup depends on how the product and website record the journey.

When should we check the link again?

Check when the link, offer or access rules change, and once the actual post is live. The link in a draft can differ from the one readers receive.

Who owns fixes if the launch link fails?

We flag the campaign issue and coordinate approved replacements with creators. Your website or analytics owner handles the underlying redirect or measurement setup.
